Holidaze 2025 - Youth Counsellor / Jr. Staff Applications 

Date: Friday August 15 - Saturday August 23, 2025

Location: Camp Olave (Sechelt)

(2007 - 2012 birth years)

Cost (when accepted): $475 plus GST (for West Coast Area member) or $525 plus GST (outside WCA)
West Coast Area members will be prioritized, as this is a West Coast Area camp

Application Opens: March 12, 2025 at 12:30pm Pacific 

Application Deadline: April 2, 2025

Applications should be completed by the Youth who are applying to be a Counsellor or Jr. Staff at Holidaze. 

West Coast Area is hosting Holidaze this year at Camp Olave in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, one of the most picturesque oceanfront camps in Canada. The program includes canoeing, swimming in the ocean, archery, crafts, hiking, exploring the seashore, and many more exciting activities. Transportation to and from the Sunshine Coast is included in the camp fee. 

Pathfinders and Rangers are invited to be counsellors / junior staff during the camp.

Counsellors will each be assigned a patrol of campers during the day. They will be coached in leadership skills, have time-off daily to spend with each other and will stay in a building together. 

Junior Staff will be mentoring to be in an adult role at camp and will be staying on the campsite with the Embers/Guides. They will be supported and treated as adults during camp. 

 

Counsellors and Junior Staff will be required to attend a mandatory pre-camp staff meeting in June 2025 and an orientation training on August 15 at Camp Olave. 

Please proceed with the application process to have an opportunity to be selected as a Holidaze Counsellor or Junior Staff for 2025. 
West Coast Area applicants will be processed first, as this is a WCA camp. West Coast Area is the following communities: Burnaby, Vancouver, Richmond, Tsawwassen, Ladner, and New Westminster.

Applications will be assessed by a selections committee and will be kept confidential. 
Deadline for applications is April 2, 2025

1st year Pathfinders and youth new to Holidaze may be offered a Junior Counsellor position. Older Rangers may be offered a Junior Staff position.

Please select one adult in your life to complete a reference form on your behalf. This can be your Guider, teacher, or another adult (not a relative) who can comment on your skills as a leader and a team player. 
The reference is confidential and must be completed by April 9, 2025. It is your responsibility to send your reference the link to complete their reference check for you. 

You will be notified of your acceptance in May when you will receive further information. 

There is no fee to submit your application form - if you are selected, you will be provided instructions on how to pay the deposit for your spot.
