Join Edmonton Area for our 5th Elks Game and Sleepover Event! What better way to kick-off your Guiding year?
Tickets include the Labour Day rematch game against the Stampeders, opportunities to participate in special field level events including: Toes on the Turf (watching, at field level, the pre-game warm up), Fan Tunnel (be a part of the fan tunnel at half-time and get a chance to high five the players!), and/or the game's Coin Toss!).
Everyone, member or non-member, will receive an event crest for attending!
Units registering to stay for the sleepover will also receive an opportunity for photos with the GGC mascot, a large "campfire" in the fieldhouse, a bedtime snack, an opportunity to sleep in a tent at field level, participate in a football game on the field and/or watch a movie before bed. In the morning, sleepover participants will also enjoy a hot pancake breakfast before heading home!
The sleepover is a member only event and participants wanting to sleepover MUST register with their Unit Guiders; families are welcome to attend the game.
Families can click here to register for their tickets.
Additional Details:
Gear Group off & Event check-in is between 3:00 - 4:00pm at the Fieldhouse/Commonwealth Rec Centre Entrance
Gates open at 4:00pm
Game begins at 5:00pm
Cost: $40 + GST each
Members are to wear their Girl Guides of Canada Uniform and/or Guiding wear.
Transportation:
Units are required to provide their own transportation to the game. Transportation via LRT or ETS is included from 3-5pm with an Elks game day ticket (please plan accordingly though if you need to be at the field at a certain time, as public transit can experience delays).
Food:
Units may bring snacks to be stored with their gear but they are only to be consumed post game.
If you'd like snacks during the game, please plan to purchase these from Northlands. The snack we receive from the Elks will be served post game as a bedtime snack (so additional unit snacks may not be necessary).
We will be provided with a juice box, orange and granola bar for each sleepover attendee.
Unfortunaly, no special food accommodations can be made as it's being provided by the Elks Football Club.
Once the game has finished, units will be asked to leave and return to the fieldhouse while we wait for the field to be cleared. While in the fieldhouse, we'll plan for a large group "campfire". Tents may be pitched on the tarmac once the "ok" has been given. A reminder that tent pegs may not be used (so please consider this when selecting your tents for the event). Once all the tents are pitched, girls are permitted to "use" the field (running games, tag games, throwing footballs - if you bring them, pictures, etc). A move(s) will also be shown after the tents are up/before bed.
Girls will be outside for the entirety of the event, so please dress for the weather. The event will run rain or shine.
There will be a pancake breakfast provided in the morning after the event! Girls can be picked up from Gate 2 between 9:00 - 9:30am on September 9th.
Units are required to provide their own ratio for a "yellow level" Safe Guide event, and a First Aider. Units without proper ratio or a first aider will NOT be permitted to sleepover. No exceptions.
The numbers of tickets that a unit orders will be the amount they receive and pay for. No changes will be permitted.
Payment will be initiated by Unified Banking transfers on September 3, 2024.
Registrations are due July 1, 2024. If you have any questions, please forward them to Tara at hawkinstara@gmail.com
After registration, the Responsible Guider can expect to receive additional information from the event organizer, Tara Hawkins, mid-August. Final (confirmed) numbers will need to be submitted to Tara by September 2, 2024. Safe Guide paperwork will be submitted by Tara for the entire event; individual units are asked NOT to submit Elks Event paperwork to assessors. The approved SG3 and SG4 will be shared with Guiders prior to the event.
