If you’re passionate about challenging beauty standards and promoting body confidence for young people, join Girl Guides of Nova Scotia for our Free Being Me Facilitator training! Free Being Me is a WAGGGS Program that envisions a world free from appearance related anxiety. Divided into three age groups, Free Being Me provides program paths for Embers up to Rangers (and beyond!) that can be completed during regular unit meetings, or in a weekend sleepover format. You can view the Free Being Me programs here: https://free-being-me.com/downloads/. During this training you can expect to learn in a lecture format, with the facilitator using slides and leading discussion. The training will outline the theory and overall program design of Free Being Me and we will discuss more broadly how to have conversations about body confidence with youth. In the afternoon participants will work together to deliver a FBM session and receive feedback. About the facilitator: Elizabeth Tuck (she/her) has been in Guiding since Sparks, and has been a guider across three provinces. In December 2023, Elizabeth travelled to Nuestra Cabana to be trained with 12 other people from across the Western Hemisphere Region as a Free Being Me Expert Facilitator. Since that time she has been working to promote Free Being Me across Nova Scotia, and elsewhere in Eastern Canada.
Lunch will be provided.
