Taste of Adventure Pacific Coast 
Youth Applications 

Date: Saturday, July 25 - Friday, July 31, 2026

Location: Camp Barnard (Sooke)

Who: Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers & Trex 

Cost: $850 plus GST

Event Planner: BC Camping Committee

Application Deadline: November 13, 2025 at 11:55 p.m. PST

 

Taste of Adventure is an adventure event for Trex, Rangers, Pathfinders and 3rd-year Guides from British Columbia. 

Participants will have the opportunity to experience overnight trips and adventurous activities. Participants will have the opportunity to choose from overnight out-trips, including canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, and bike packing which will be facilitated by qualified Guiders or service providers. 

In addition to adventure out-trips, participants will have the opportunity to go on a variety of day trips, including ziplining, climbing, horseback riding, whale watching and more. 

 

 

 

Who

One Hundred (100) campers born between 2008 - 2014

 

Cost: 

Youth campers will receive a Provincial subsidy of $250, making the cost to the youth $850 plus GST. This includes all costs associated with this trip (program, meals, accommodation, local travel).

 

Not included in this event fee: 

  • -Kit list and uniform requirements 
  • Transportation to one of the departure locations (Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, Kamloops BC, or Camp Barnard Sooke BC) 

Please check with your District Commissioner or Area Camping Adviser to see if your Area and District Councils can assist you with this event. Girl members may fundraise part of their trip cost by following the fundraising policy and procedures (Governance Policy 01-19-01)

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Good physical fitness
  • Four (4) Girl Guide camping (minimum of 2 nights in a row) 
  • Ability to adapt and work co-operatively 
  • Ability to cope with daily camp activities 
  • Completed swim or boat test recorded in iMIS by June 30, 2026
  • Any required skills training for adventurous activities will be provided at camp

 

 

Before starting your application, please have the full name and email of an adult who can be a reference for you. They can be a Guiding member or not, but please refrain from using family members as your reference. 

After completing your application, please connect with your listed reference and have them complete this Youth Reference Form.
