Over two days (September 28 and 29) Guides, Pathfinders, Trex, and Ranger units will have the opportunity to explore Camp Westover, expand your wilderness and hiking skills, and experience supervised canoeing on our small, sheltered lake.
This fee includes the cost of bussing, 2 hours of canoe programming by certified Calgary Area canoe facilitators, all canoe equipment, a full day to explore Westover, and an expanded activity guide.
Bussing is mandatory for all Units. Final bussing schedule and arrangements will be communicated with all registered units.
A mandatory pre-camp meeting for at least one Unit Guider will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from 7:00-8:00pm. Many of your questions will be answered then.
There will be no overnight camping associated with WCW2024. Units who wish to camp on that weekend can rent one of the Westover campsites, do their own SG paperwork, provide their own RG and canoe facilitators. They can use the canoes after 4:30pm on Saturday.
Safe Guide forms for WCW2024 will be sent out over the summer, after National has completed revisions of the forms. Guiders will collect completed, hard copies of SG.2 and SG.5 forms for all participants in their Unit to bring to the event. Units must provide adult:girl ratio for a "yellow level" event for your branch level, as well as a first aider and home contact for your unit.
Land-based ratio: Guides and Pathfinders - 1:7; Rangers - 1:15
On-water ratio will be provided by Calgary Area canoe facilitators.
