Registration Requirements

Each Unit Must:
• Have a valid First Aider in accordance with the GREEN level Safe Guide requirements.
• Meet the
GREEN level Safe Guide ratios outlined below, learn more.

GGC Paperwork
You must distribute, collect and bring the following Safe Guide forms with you to the Experience:

For Girls
SG.1 - Activity Plan
SG.2
 - Permission Form
H.1 - Child Health Form

For Adults
H.2 - Adult Health Form
Each Adult must also review the SG.4 - Emergency Response Plan

Guiders must fill-out the SG.4 for your unit specifically in advance of your Outdoor Experience.

 All paperwork is available for download at the links above. Units are ONLY responsible for completing the Safe Guide paperwork related to travel. All other Safe Guide paperwork is submitted on your behalf.

Activities

Note - activities are weather dependent and subject to change at the discretion of the facility.

Life on the Farm
This tour based experience takes groups to a selection of village buildings to discover what everyday life was like for children of the past.
 
All About Animals
Meet our livestock staff and discover how we care for our animals.
 
What's Growing in the Garden?
Help us with planting for the season in the education garden. Program includes your own seedling to take home.
 
Nature in the Village
Go on a nature hike around the village and discover how newcomers to Canada utilized plants, animals, and the environment around them. Identify plants, explore heritage gardens, and discuss the impact growing communities had on the land and waterways. What lessons can we learn from the past?

 Program Area and Theme Connections

All fully serviced Outdoor Experiences have been strategically planned and connected to GGC's Program. Use the table below as guide when looking at which program themes and areas are covered by activities at this Outdoor Experience. 

This activity counts toward the 2024-2026 National Service Project (NSP): Action for Wildlife requirement to learn about wildlife. Learn more

 

 

Meals and Snacks

Meals or snacks will not be provided at this Outdoor Experience. It is the responsibility of the Guiders to ensure that the members of their unit bring their own nut-free lunch, snacks and drinks to be consumed throughout the day.

 


 

About the Facility

As a living history museum located approximately 30 minutes north of downtown Toronto, Black Creek offers one of the richest heritage experiences in the Toronto area.

Please note that this facility may be shared with third parties. GGCOC will ensure that if the facility is being shared, GGCOC members will have exclusive programming times/areas. All necessary COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Please see our Terms and Conditions for details surrounding our exclusive use agreement.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your registration without penalty up until the Thursday FOUR weeks before the start date of your experience. You can cancel your registration or make changes to your registration details (e.g., participant numbers, names, dietary requirements) online by using your login details in your confirmation email to access your registration form. After this date, you will be charged a deposit. Please be aware that if you wish to cancel your registration after this date, your deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

You can continue to make changes to your registration details until registration closes. Registration closes on the Thursday two weeks prior to the start date of your experience. You will be charged the remaining balance at this time, and your payment will be confirmed.
Please be aware that if you wish to cancel your registration after this date, your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.

If you need to make any changes to your registration details after the 4 week deadline, you must send an email to on-outdoorexperiencesfaq@girlguides.ca, as you will no longer be able to make changes online.

All deposits are non-refundable, and deposits cannot be transferred to another Outdoor Experience or unit. However, deposits for planned programs can be transferred to another participant who is joining the experience. Transferred deposits can be used only as deposits. They cannot be applied toward payment of a remaining balance.

We are unable to offer refunds unless there are extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness, death in the family). Any refund requests related to illness (including COVID-19) must be accompanied by a medical note signed by a doctor and received no later than 10 business days after the end date of the Outdoor Experience. Proof of a positive COVID-19 test may be submitted in lieu of a medical note. Refund requests, medical notes, and proof of positive COVID-19 tests may be submitted to on-outdoorexperiencesfaq@girlguides.ca.

If an Outdoor Experience is cancelled by GGC, a full refund will be issued.
Cancellations due to extreme weather, and any applicable refunds resulting from such cancellations, are at the discretion of the facility where the Experience takes place.
Refunds are provided via the same method used to pay for the experience.
