Description:
Join this interactive bike safety event being run by the East Region, Public Outreach and Education Office of the Ministry of Transportation. It is mandatory that participants bring their bikes and helmets. If participant cannot ride a bike, they may bring a scooter and helmet.
Activities:
Education on cycling, pedestrian, and a little bit about rail safety. We will review things such as:
- Proper helmet use
- What is legally required on a bicycle and what can add for extra safety
- How to communicate with vehicles
- How to walk & cycle defensively and without distractions
- How to cross rails safely

A child car seat inspection clinic will take place at the same time and location. This clinic will be by registration only. ( Please see the document attached to register)

A BBQ will be offered by the Stormont Optimist clubs at caregiver cost and is optional.
Guider Responsibilities
Before the event: as noted in the Safe Guide section, Guiders are responsible for distributing and collecting appropriate paperwork for the participants attending from their unit. PLEASE SAVE A COPY of the SG forms. Guiders are expected to share with caregivers that youth must bring their bicycle helmets to the event.
At the event: Guiders are responsible for supervising their own unit.
Payments
There is no payment to attend this event. If you are no longer able to attend, please inform on-eventregistration@girlguides.ca no later than one week prior to the event date as a courtesy to our hosts and other attendees.
